Hey. I'm Kassie, and I'm a commercial and editorial photographer, whose work has appeared in The New York Times T Style, Architectural Digest, Sunset, Life & Thyme, Dwell, Plate, Flavor & The Menu, Edible and many other publications. Born and raised in Napa, I grew up with both a love of good food and wine, and a profound appreciation for the farmers, chefs, resturateurs and vintners who make up that community.
With a focus on culinary, lifestyle, and travel photography, I bring my own unique aesthetic to each project. My approach is, at heart, documentarian—honing in on a lovely moment, a quiet space, a gorgeous plate, or an stunning patch of light—to capture those beautiful, idiosyncratic moments of life as they unfold and are revealed to us, naturally.
Since founding my business while living abroad in Germany, I call San Francisco home now. However, I continue to travel and photograph all over the world, with recent projects taking me to Cuba, Stockholm, Zürich, the English countryside, Berlin, Paris and even the tiny country of Liechtenstein.
Since my days as studio art major, I've developed keen sense of design and composition, and am drawn to rich color, pattern play, negative space and asymmetry. A devourer of international culture and affairs, I adore Japanese packaging, Danish woodwork, English coziness, and German efficiency...and find inspiration in them all. I love an elegant interior and a minimal facade. But try as I may, my studio is a bohemian-maximal juxtaposition of various eccentric bric-a-brac.
With previous stints working at The Culinary Institute of America, Google, and Ketchum Food B2B, I bring a deep knowledge of the food industry and diverse experience in marketing, branding, recipe development, and visual identity to the table.
Above all, I strive for authenticity within a strong visual narrative. It's my hope that the imagery, finds a way to truly nourish you in some way. Be that visually, intellectually, or emotionally.
When not behind the camera or computer, I seek tactility and craftwork. I love to cook, preferably hunched over a ball of dough, kneading happily. I'm also a proficient if enthusiastic German-speaker, a voracious reader, a sometimes writer, an amateur gardener and a slow knitter.
